(Memories of Linda Easthope) Peder came to Calgary, Canada in 1956 and then again in 1959 and worked on various farms. In 1961 came back to Ottawa and then to Duncan, B.C., where his sister Birgit was living. He went back to Denmark in 1963 and then returned to Alberta on a farm exchange for 6 months in 1968. I think he would have liked to have taken over the family farm near Eltang, but he couldn’t come to an agreement with his father on that. In 1969 he finally emigrated from Denmark, returned to Calgary and worked as a brick layer with Larry Friis and others.

Uncle Peder inherited his grandfather Niels Peder Nielsen’s drawing ability. He was a good cartoonist who could draw just about anything. He had a quiet sense of humour and could often be seen smirking in the background when things got “interesting.”
