(Memories of Linda Easthope) Asta was a small person with a big personality. She simply sparkled! She laughed easily, got up early, drank strong coffee at bedtime (often along with a little shot of something), and went about her daily routine with a happy energy. Although, I never understood why she was so interested in watching boxing on TV! She was the local social media before there was the Internet - she knew everything about everybody and their children, too. She spent so much time on the phone that the staff at the nursing home suggested that the family send one along with her in her casket when she passed away. It is because of Asta’s fantastic memory and interest in people that we have so many names on so many old pictures of the family and the neighbourhood. She lived to be 104 and I think we all wish she could have lived longer. We still miss her!
