Possible Match in Thorning 1737-1739:
1 Jun 1738 “Laust Nielsens barn i Ungstrup døbt, kaldet Christen…” (p. 149/217).
CENSUS 1787 (Ungstrup, Thorning, Viborg)
559 age 50.
The 1787 Census for Ungstrup shows 2 men named Christen Larsen, close in age (50 & 54). Our Christen Larsen is distringuished by his nickname, Wiide, in both of his marriage records and most of his children’s birth records. His second marriage to Birthe Andersdatter is confirmed by the census (she is “Madmoder”, the second wife), and their death records, showing the nickname Wiide, allow us to follow this couple through some life changes.
The other Christen Larsen was married for the third time on 19 Nov 1771 to Anna Andersdatter, and this is the other couple that shows on the 1787 Census in Ungstrup.
One important piece of data is missing: death of Christen’s first wife, Kirsten, sometime between the birth of Maren on 8 Aug 1762 and his marriage to Birthe on 2 Nov 1762. (The pages in Thorning are really hard to read.) As his nickname Wiide is used on both marriage records, there can be no doubt that this is the same man, but it was a quick transition as his son Anders was born exactly 9 months after the marriage, in August 1763. Both wives have the surname Andersdatter, but this does not mean they were related.
No other children found in Thorning Parish Register 1773-1777.
