At the time of the 1801 Census (Hjortshøj, Randers, Danmark, Statens Arkiver, Dansk Demografisk Database) Laurs and Anne Kierstine were living separately: she with his parents in Hesselballe and he as Tjenestekarl on Awisgaarden Hjortshøjlund.
Age at time of 1801 Census was given as 28. Census 1834 gives his age as 63, and 1840 as 68. Census 1845 gives his age as 73 and birthplace as “her i sognet”. In Census 1855 his age is given as 82; he is a widower living with his daughter Ane Marie.
